The Advantages of a Coworking Space
Since I started remote work, I have made a habit of going to coworking spaces. I have been to mannnny in my life, many across the world. From Spain, to Bali, to Buenos Aires, to New York to Mexico City, I have been to a lot. I even had the opportunity to work as a community manager at a co-working space in New York. To say the least, I am a fan of them.
I believe that there are many advantages of a coworking space, here are just a few:
Meeting Awesome People: One of my favorite parts about a coworking space is the people that I meet. When you find a good coworking space, it’s like finding a gem, because it usually attracts many like-minded people. Whenever I have moved to a new place, it has been a great way to meet new like-minded people. It seems that everyone comes to most coworking spaces, to collaborate, get inspired and connect on different projects. I have made an effort to always seek out the best coworking space in town for this reason.
Some personal favorites and shoutouts have been the Living Room in Malaga Spain, Hubud in Hubud, Bali and KoHub in Kolanta, Thailand.
The balance between work and life: Another favorite part of coworking spaces is that it creates a real separation between work and life priorities. With a coworking space, I get to choose to leave the house and in my brain separate the distinction between what it means to work and what it means to play. The best part about it, is that it doesnt have to necessarily mean a long community. I don’t have to commute 45 minutes each day to an office space to do this, usually I find a coworking space that is 10–15 minutes in walking distance.
The great amenities: Another reason I enjoy coworking spaces is for the amenities. It is really nice to just have a space where you know that everything is going to be there for you and work. For instance, there usually is always the high wi-fi speed, a kitchen and a nice space to work from. Additionally, there is a place where you can send packages. And for those of us that are nomads, this can be a huge plus.
Finding Inspiration and Collaborations: Another plus for coworking spaces for me has been the finding collaborations and new inspiration. As I mentioned in the first point, you can find some great people at a coworking space. From these great people, you can make friends with them, make them partners on a project that you are working on, or just pick their brain for new ideas and inspiration. Sometimes, I have even went out for a coffee to learn about a new business or a new role that I have never heard about and this has been hugely beneficial for me.
